  1. When the article had stated, "young people today are radically overestimating the economic value of going to college", I had found that very incorrect in my opinion. College students typically value their education more because it's their career path they are building. It's very rare that a college student would drop out. According to this website: http://www.areyoureallyreadyforcollege.com/parents/high_grades_and_drop_out_rates.html there is only a 25% college drop out rate. In that same website in the "College Vs. High School Study" section, college students tend to study much longer hours than high school students. So it's unfair to claim that "many of them would be better off doing something else".

  2. I kind of understand the writers point of view in a sense because a lot of teenagers going into college that are from low income families feel that there isn't enough support from the federal government or that the government is just digging students into a hole they'll never get out of. Yet overhauling the entire system and stating that young people are "overestimating the value of college" seems a bit too opinionated and one-sided. Many students in college are there because they want a meaningful job and life and don't want their options limited because they never went to college. So in one sense I can relate to the article, in the other sense I think the article is too opinionated to be taken to heart.
